https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=367065 Summary: applications not starting during boot process Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Usability AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: support@microtechniques.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer Created an attachment (id=198603) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=198603) boot log On one of our systems even though apache starts up as S12apache2 in rc3.d either 1) the log shows it trying to start much earlier - before the network starts, and it fails because it can not assign a listening port, or 2) more frequently, it just does not try to start at all and there are absolutely no syslog entries for apache. Also happens some times with postfix and spamd. Run levels all set via yast2, and scripts are the ones supplied with the SuSE distibution. On one system I modified the SuSE supplied apache2 startup script to delay starting until a mysql status check returns running and this seemed to help. The servers have been in production for about 2 years. The problems started about two weeks ago immediately after they were upgraded from 10.2 to 10.3. No other changes were made. I saved copies of the syslog and .boot? files from one of the failures when Apache did not start. I was unable to investigate further and try various combinations of different software. syslog attached. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
