https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=236664 Summary: Firefox use NetworkManager status to determine online status Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Firefox AssignedTo: bnc-team-mozilla@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: andre@trusoft.co.za QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: wolfgang@rosenauer.org When NetworkManager is used and the computer is not connected to a LAN via ethernet of WiFi, then Firefox starts up in offline mode. This is a problem in cases where the user is dialed up via analogue modem, or not at all, but needs to access a web server running locally on the machine. Problem was discovered while setting up an OpenSUSE laptop for a person who needs to demo a web application to potential clients. The web application is installed on the laptop, so there is no need to go online to do the demo. FireFox is pointed to http://localhost in order to do the demo. Unfortunately Firefox is in offline mode as NetworkManager is not connected to a LAN. This is also a problem for dialup users who have to manually set Firefox to online mode each time they dial up and want to browse the web. Intermediate solution is to disable Network manager and user traditional method. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
