I did it. The "bimbo" module did sit on top of irq 16, but didn't seem to work for 18.
Yeah, it grabs the interrupt in an unshared manner. If there is already a driver sitting on there, it won't grab it.
From /proc/interrupts after a reboot...

The values are way to high if it is right after a reboot. What all other interrupts rise the same speed as this one? Are there similar values for any other interrupt number?
