Hanssen <terje@nordland-teknikk.no> 2012-07-18 11:52:17 UTC --- As my YaST2 printer setup issue (12.2 RC2 x86_64, Gnome 3.4.2) also looks to be caused by cupsd not running, I add it here. First I ran a Lexmark 'install_ppd.sh' utility script which installed the PPD file /usr/share/cups/model/Lexmark_PPD/Lexmark_X950_Series.ppd Next I tried to setup the first printer on 12.2 (which workes similar quite ok on 12.1/Tumbleweed and 11.4 in trippel boot on the same workstation) alfa:~ # yast2 printer Query message: Restart locally running CUPS daemon A restart disrupts all currently active print jobs Yes Error mesages followed Failed to restart the CUPS daemon No details availabel OK A locally running CUPS daemon is required, but it seems to be not accessible. Check with 'lpstat -h localhost -r' whether a local cupsd is accessible. A non-accessible cupsd leads to an endless sequence of further failures. OK Failed to detect print queues OK Cannot show print queues OK alfa:~ # lpstat -h localhost -r scheduler is not running alfa:~ # systemctl status cups.service cups.service - CUPS Printing Service Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/cups.service; disabled) Active: inactive (dead) CGroup: name=systemd:/system/cups.service As far as I can see, in my case IP v6 is also enabled. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
