http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1209981 Bug ID: 1209981 Summary: Grub prompts for disk encryption password too fast Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.4 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE Leap 15.4 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: carlos.e.r@opensuse.org QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Hi, New Lenovo L14 Gen3 laptop, AMD CPU. This is an enterprise class laptop (according to manufacturer) Fresh install of Leap 15.4 with full disk encryption with discrete partitions (no LVM) and identical passwords. Machine starts the boot procedure, internal checks, then pops the Lenovo logo in the center of the screen, a message to press F1 for config or F12 for boot menu flashes for half a second, then the prompt for the disk encryption password pops at top left in about half a second. At this point, F1, F12, ctrl-alt-del are ignored. The only way out is press and hold the power button for 4 seconds. The only way to reach the config or boot menus is to repeatedly press F1/F12, fast, non stop, till the machine reacts. Pressing and holding F1 doesn't work. Pressing it slowly or once or twice doesn't work. When the machine was not installed, only the USB install media present, there was ample time to press F1. Proposal: - Detect ctrl-alt-del (in the grub code that prompts for the password, living in /boot/efi/opensuse). - In that code, insert a delay, hopefully configurable, before it prompts for the password. No idea if that would work, though. Ask for any other information you need from me. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
