https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=247785 Summary: No network using Xen because Broadcom bcm4401 driver b44 fails Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Xen AssignedTo: cgriffin@novell.com ReportedBy: leo.hordijk@newlevel.nl QAContact: qa@suse.de Using a Dell Inspiron 9400(E1705), with a Broadcom BCM4401-B0 adapter, running released OpenSuSE 10.2, (but also on SLES10/SELD10 with al updates) the driver loads without any problem if _not_ booting into Xen (kernel 2.6.18.2-34), but it fails with the following (dmesg) output when booting into xen (2.6.18.2-34-xen). Result: no network whatsoever running xen. All network interfaces I see (ifconfig) are eth1 (is my ipw3945 wireless card, not bridged), xenbr0 and lo. The normally active eth0 for the broadcom does not activate, although module has been loaded. ifconfig: eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:13:02:47:53:C8 inet addr:172.17.3.7 Bcast:172.17.255.255 Mask:255.255.0.0 inet6 addr: fe80::213:2ff:fe47:53c8/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:16740 errors:0 dropped:102 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:36 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:206690 (201.8 Kb) TX bytes:4165 (4.0 Kb) Interrupt:17 Base address:0x6000 Memory:dfcff000-dfcfffff lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:52 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:52 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:4538 (4.4 Kb) TX bytes:4538 (4.4 Kb) xenbr0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:13:02:47:53:C8 inet6 addr: fe80::200:ff:fe00:0/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING NOARP MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:997 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:148345 (144.8 Kb) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) dmesg: b44.c:v1.01 (Jun 16, 2006) ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:03:00.0[A] -> GSI 17 (level, low) -> IRQ 17 b44 0000:03:00.0: No usable DMA configuration, aborting. What surprises me is I could not find any info on the Novell/openSuse bug-forums, must be other people running sles/sled or opensuse 10.2 on compareable hardware that ran into this same problem?
