https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=214247 ------- Comment #14 from j.keet@wandromeda.demon.nl 2006-11-03 14:50 MST ------- - Strange detail is that the freeze occured when I mounted /dev/sda8 as read/write. - Forget it, it also froze in Knoppix with disks mounted r.o., even without disk-accesses. Tested with disconnected usb-front flat-cable. Do not do this. It dismounts your power-button and lets the cooling fan 'run like hell'. Tested with onboard vga only, no succes, still usb losses/freezes. Tested in SuSE10.1 install-kernel (graphical install)... freezes Tested in SuSE10.1 install-kernel failsafe ... freezes Tested disabling front-usb and rear-usb-1 while connected to rear-usb-0 ... freezes Trying different 32 and 64 kernels did not work Trying a lot of kernel bootup parameters, in a lot of combinations, did not work Trying other distro's did not work Trying physical changes did not work Trying bios changes did not work Trying external (powered) non-Dell usb hub did not work Only a kernel fix to workaround buggy hardware (nForce430) seems to be left (?) Walter, what are your experiences with the pci32 usb card? What is it with these Dell Dimension E521's that no-one can run a working Linux without adding extra hardware that's already there, and that's designed to work with open standard instruction interfaces. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
