My system is a Medion desktop with an Intel Core 2 CPU 4300 @ 1,8 MHz, speed 1,2 Mhz, 2 cores and 2,0 Gb of memory. I have down loaded openSUSE 12.1 DVD, 32 bits. Burned it on a DVD and the MD5 check was oke at start of burning, after burning it was verified oke by the burning program and also before the install the media check say no errors. The first install formatted a / and /home partion with ext4 and the standard install (only manual hardware configuration) went as expected up to and including the point that the system counts down for the first login, At that moment nothing happened anymore and the display showed garbled colored lines. The only way to get out was to press power button sothat the system stopped. After restarting the desktop system, while the installation DVD was still in the DVD reader, I selected boot from harddisk and i could normally login in the in the openSUSE 12.1 system. I have no idea how I can find out what went wrong. I made a 2nd install on the same desktop into 2 other formatted partions ( / and /home) but now with a complete standard install, so with automatic hardware configuration. The same problem occurred and the only difference was that after restarting the desktop system, while the installation DVD was still in the DVD reader, I selected boot from harddisk and than the system noticed that the install was not completely finished and I could restart the installation and at the end I could normally login in the in the openSUSE 12.1 system. If you need more info I can repeat the installation as long as i know where to look for the error or what information you need. This bug report is produced via the 2nd openSUSE 12.1 installation Regards, frans -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
