I booted from a DVD with opensuse 12.2 final on it. From the boot menu of the DVD, I selected "start rescue system", entered the boot option "BrokenModules=pata_pdc2027x", and hit the return key. Unfortunately, opensuse 12.2 final insists on using module pata_pdc2027x, see the attached files boot.msg and lsmod.txt. "hdparm -t /dev/sd{a,b}" shows an I/O throughput of 16MB/s, which compares favorably with the 5MB/s measured for the release candidates, but which is still well below the values of 55 or 70MB/s measured with opensuse 10.3 for the two disks.
hmm... Could you please try remove pata_pdc2027x manually in console in rescue system? # modprobe -r pata_pdc2027x # modprobe pdc202xx_new Then look at does pdc202xx_new work fine?
