https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=469174 Summary: System freezes accidently or after pressing Power button to shutdown Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dim.horbach@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=267445) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=267445) dmesg dump during boot after problem User-Agent: Opera/9.62 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en) Presto/2.1.1 After upgrading to opensuse 11.1 from opensuse 11.0 I experience the next problem: accidently the system freezes and become unresponsive (runs in headless mode runlevel 3). Only ping is available and I cannot connect through any service (SSH or SMB). Maybe it happens on high I/O load. The second case is when I press button "Power" to shutdown normally. In 2/3 cases the system freezes and only "hard" shutdown is possible. No such behaviour was on opensuse 11.0. The only message that appears to be relevant to this problem is (in /var/log/warn): kernel: ata1.01: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x6 frozen Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Press "Power" button to shutdown or 1. Accidently happens on some ethernet I/O load (Samba resources or Squid) Actual Results: The system is frozen -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
