Thanks. So the login actually succeeds and a session is started, however after about a second it dies from a SIGHUP which is why you are taken back to a greeter. That's a bit puzzling, does this only happen with lxde sessions? What happens when you choose another session like icewm or twm?
It happens 1 time after restart, regardless which session I choose (icewm, twm, openbox, lxde). After succesful login, it goes without problems and if I logout, it logs in at the first try until next restart. Happens on both user accounts I have. So it must be something in my setup if you can't reproduce it. I won't bother you then, have to find out what's wrong or just use older version of lightdm eventually.
