http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=602558 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=602558#c0 Summary: KDE Live system very sluggish and barely usable with 512 MB RAM Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Factory Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Live Medium AssignedTo: coolo@novell.com ReportedBy: lenz@grimmer.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US) AppleWebKit/533.8 SUSE/5.0.396.0-2.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/5.0.396.0 Safari/533.8 I'm testing Milestone 6 (openSUSE-KDE-LiveCD-Build0577-i686.iso) with qemu-kvm and noticed that one needs to provide at least 1024MB of RAM ("-m 1024") in order to be able to use the live system. It seems to work with 512 MB as well, but is very slow. During KDE startup, the "Starting Akonadi Server" progress bar hangs (as well as the mouse cursor) for quite some time. This may confuse users into thinking that the system is hung up (it managed to fool me). It also take a while to react to mouse click events, which may lead the users to clicking on links and icons multiple times (thus further prolonging the startup of applications). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot the KDE live system with 512 MB of memory configured 2. Wait. Actual Results: The system boots up, but performs sluggish. Expected Results: The system should behave more responsive and should not appear "stuck". -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
