http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=605478 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=605478#c2 --- Comment #2 from René Krell <rkrell@gmx.net> 2010-08-05 11:52:42 UTC --- (In reply to comment #1) Meanwhile I'm on OpenSUSE 11.3 using the Xorg:X11 repository and my own "overload" of xorg-x11-drivers from home:renekrell (which is at them moment at in the same ATI video driver state "radeon": 6.13.1). Whenever I see a relevant change in the development master I rebuild the package with it, but there hasn't been anything new. The update from 6.13.0 to 6.13.1 improved the stability a bit, but it isn't still perfect and I get similar effects like you described.
... I was originally getting 2 types of freezes: * one, a complete freeze, where the computer still had my windows visible, but the mouse pointer would not move, nor would the computer respond to any key strokes. The only way forward was to power down. * the other where one by one, applications stopped responding. The mouse pointer still moved, it was usually possible to change desktops, but it was not possible to open new windows. Some windows would continue to respond for a long time (minutes) such as terminal windows. Most others would not. It was possible using CTRL-SHIFT-F1 etc to swap to the standard consoles and log in. But attempts to shut down were unsuccessful. You might get the shutdown message, but then no further response. Eventually the only way forward was to power down.
Exactly. Additional I got to note the second point, where the mouse still moves, but the desktop freezes more and more and freezes anyway. I made a separate report at freedesktop.org, because Suse can't do so much here, I guess: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29166 You might post your configuration, logs and experiences with this there, too. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
