https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=715316 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=715316#c0 Summary: X uses high CPU when using sgi-fonts Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: pablo@blueoakdb.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:6.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/6.0 Howdy, I decided to test `Factory aka. KDF (KDE SC 4.7)' and found that `X' is using a high percentage of CPU when I'm using `sgi-fonts' with `Konsole' It took bifurcation to narrow down the issue but I have a reproducible test case. Also, I suspect other applications which are using `sgi-font's will cause high CPU usage for X as well. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. openSUSE 11.4 + KDF (KDE SC 4.7) + `sgi-fonts' 2. In one `konsole', type `top' - ensure you're using the default Monospace font. 3. In a second `konsole' window, type `man bash', and page through the pages. Note X CPU usage. 4. Now, in second `konsole', configure `konsole' to use the `SGI Screen' font. 5. Repeat `man bash' test Actual Results: On my system, X uses between 16-20% of a CPU (2.4 GHz, T7700) at idle with two `konsole' windows; one at a prompt and the other running `top' Expected Results: Using KDE 4.6, default `openSUSE 11.4', under the same conditions, X uses 1-2%. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
