Second workaround:
Copy the file /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/x11-synaptics-touchpad.fdi
to /etc/hal/fdi/policy/20thirdparty/x11-synaptics-touchpad.fdi
and add one line to the ALPS section:
..
<match key="info.product" contains="AlpsPS/2 ALPS">
<merge key="input.x11_driver" type="string">synaptics</merge>
</match>
..
With this workaround alone my touchpad is correctly detected and works
until I suspend and resume.
After resume it is not working as expected anymore.
