Yes, without the fix, IM might not be available at all after the fresh installation.
Or, when you uninstall some IM package, the old entry will remain in the cache, and no other IM will be available in the worst case.
This comes out on my 11.4 when trying to uninstall scim and install ibus， then I can‘t type chinese. This bug is such a big trouble for chinese users these days, so we should test this soon.
