No chance to kill the process neither with kill, nor kill -9. The /dev/ttyIx device stays locked. fuser reports the yaps process using it. /var/lock/ contains lockfile for /dev/ttyIx I also recompiled yaps on this system, but got same result. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install yaps 2.configure for using /dev/ttyI0 3.send a message yaps 01714444 test Actual Results: Output of yaps: /var/log/messages Expected Results: yaps process terminates after sending and lockfile on ttyIx is removed. suse:~ # uname -a Linux suse 2.6.31.8-0.1-default #1 SMP 2009-12-15 23:55:40 +0100 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux suse:~ # yaps -V yaps: V. 0.96 (alpha software) Definitions: POSIX_SIGNAL SIG_VOID_RETURN HAVE_SYS_SYSMACROS_H HAVE_MEMCPY HAVE_MEMSET HAVE_GETOPT BROKEN_REALLOC Sending SMS: suse:~ # yaps 01714444 test Found service D1 for 01714444 Sending following message: 01714444 (D1, 01714444): test Olaf Trying to open /dev/ttyI1 for modem standard [Hangup] [Send] <cr> [Cmd Mdzz 200] [Send] AT&E616<cr> [Expect] <cr>AT&E616<cr><cr><lf>OK got OK Using modem standard at 38400 bps, 8n1 over /dev/ttyI1 Trying do dial 01712521002 [Send] ATD01712521002<cr> [Expect] <cr><lf>ATD01712521002<cr><cr><lf>CONNECT got CONNECT Dial successful [Drain] 64000/X.75<cr><lf> [Send] <cr> [Expect] ID= got ID= Send initial CR [Send] <esc>PG1<cr> [Expect] 2.9.0.2<cr><ack><cr> got <ack><cr> Login request accepted [Expect] <esc>[p<cr> got <esc>[p<cr> Successful login [Send] <stx>01714444<cr>test Olaf<cr><etx>51:<cr> [Expect] Message send failed - subscriber not on database<cr><cr><rs><cr> got <rs><cr> Can't transmit this message Unable to send part 0 [Send] <eot><cr> [Expect] <cr><esc><eot><cr> got <esc><eot><cr> Message sending completed Logout successful [Drain] [Hangup] <-- Process hangs forever ps info: suse:~ # ps -efa | grep yaps root 2765 2719 0 13:55 pts/0 00:00:00 yaps 01714444 test root 2817 2771 0 13:57 pts/3 00:00:00 grep yaps fuser: suse:~ # fuser /dev/ttyI1 /dev/ttyI1: 2765 kill: suse:~ # kill -9 2765 suse:~ # ps -efa | grep yaps root 2765 2719 0 13:55 pts/0 00:00:00 yaps 01714444 test Lockfile: suse:~ # cat /var/lock/LCK..ttyI1 2765 /var/log/messages Jan 24 13:55:36 suse sshd[2715]: Accepted keyboard-interactive/pam for root from 192.168.100.4 port 50487 ssh2 Jan 24 13:55:53 suse isdnlog: (AVM B1 driver detected (D2)) Jan 24 13:55:53 suse isdnlog: Jan 24 13:55:53 * tei 77 calling +49 171/2521002, Deutschland Mobilfunk D1/Deutschland Mo with +49 5231/, Detmold RING (Data) Jan 24 13:55:57 suse isdnlog: Jan 24 13:55:57 tei 77 calling +49 171/2521002, Deutschland Mobilfunk D1/Deutschland Mo with +49 5231/, Detmold Time:Sun Jan 24 13:55:00 2010 Jan 24 13:55:57 suse isdnlog: Jan 24 13:55:57 tei 77 calling +49 171/2521002, Deutschland Mobilfunk D1/Deutschland Mo with +49 5231/, Detmold COLP +49 171/2521002, Deutschland Mobilfunk D1/Deutschland Mo Jan 24 13:55:57 suse isdnlog: Jan 24 13:55:57 tei 77 calling +49 171/2521002, Deutschland Mobilfunk D1/Deutschland Mo with +49 5231/, Detmold CONNECT (Data) Jan 24 13:55:57 suse kernel: [ 134.769755] capilib_new_ncci: kcapi: appl 1 ncci 0x10101 up Jan 24 13:55:57 suse isdnlog: Jan 24 13:55:57 tei 77 calling +49 171/2521002, Deutschland Mobilfunk D1/Deutschland Mo with +49 5231/, Detmold CHARGE: 23200 ¢/60s = 23.200 ¢/Min (DTAG T-ISDN Standard, Mobilfunk D1/D2, täglich) Jan 24 13:55:57 suse isdnlog: Jan 24 13:55:57 tei 77 calling +49 171/2521002, Deutschland Mobilfunk D1/Deutschland Mo with +49 5231/, Detmold HINT: Better use 0190035:TeleDiscount*, 14.500 ¢/60s = 14.500 ¢/Min, saving 10.235 ¢/Min Jan 24 13:55:57 suse isdnlog: Jan 24 13:55:57 tei 77 calling +49 171/2521002, Deutschland Mobilfunk D1/Deutschland Mo with +49 5231/, Detmold 1.CI 23.200 ¢ (now) Jan 24 13:55:57 suse isdnlog: Jan 24 13:55:57 tei 77 calling +49 171/2521002, Deutschland Mobilfunk D1/Deutschland Mo with +49 5231/, Detmold NEXT CI AFTER 01:00 (DTAG T-ISDN Standard, Mobilfunk D1/D2, täglich) Jan 24 13:55:57 suse kernel: [ 134.797800] capidrv-1: chan 0 up with ncci 0x10101 Jan 24 13:56:01 suse kernel: [ 138.486701] kcapi: appl 1 ncci 0x10101 down Jan 24 13:56:01 suse kernel: [ 138.793049] capidrv-1: DISCONNECT_IND reason 0x3400 (No additional information) for plci 0x101 Jan 24 13:56:01 suse isdnlog: Jan 24 13:56:01 tei 77 calling +49 171/2521002, Deutschland Mobilfunk D1/Deutschland Mo with +49 5231/, Detmold HINT: Cheapest booked 0190082:lightTALK 1.833 ¢ (would save 21.367 ¢) Jan 24 13:56:01 suse isdnlog: Jan 24 13:56:01 tei 77 calling +49 171/2521002, Deutschland Mobilfunk D1/Deutschland Mo with +49 5231/, Detmold HINT: Overall cheapest 01089:M"net ISDN business 1.827 ¢ (would save 21.372 ¢) Jan 24 13:56:01 suse isdnlog: Jan 24 13:56:01 tei 77 calling +49 171/2521002, Deutschland Mobilfunk D1/Deutschland Mo with +49 5231/, Detmold HINT: LCR:FAILED Jan 24 13:56:01 suse isdnlog: Jan 24 13:56:01 tei 77 calling +49 171/2521002, Deutschland Mobilfunk D1/Deutschland Mo with +49 5231/, Detmold HANGUP (1 CI 23.200 ¢ 0:00:04) Jan 24 13:57:05 suse sshd[2767]: Accepted keyboard-interactive/pam for root from 192.168.100.4 port 50491 ssh2 Jan 24 13:59:43 suse kernel: [ 360.728105] INFO: task yaps:2765 blocked for more than 120 seconds.
