The problem has been confirmed on two different computers with different sound cards and KDE 4.2.x installed with latest updates. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Restart computer 2. Start amarok (2.1 in my case) 3. It will notify that it failed to initialize sound device Actual Results: Master channel is muted and of course Amarok does not play anything.
