Using KDE4, if you open Yast2 go to Security and Users -> User & Group Administration and then switch between three different tabs, the system frequently 'hangs'. None of the keys are active, although the mouse still works, and I can access the system via ssh from another machine. Top run via ssh does not show any excessive usage. The shutdown and init commands are ineffective UNLESS I kill all of the X releated processes. If I kill all of the X processes, the screen of the hung system goes blank, but the keyboard is still unusable. I can, however, now reboot via ssh. These yast functions never hang when run from the command line outside of KDE. Other packages such as FireFox also cause the same issue. The problem is not consistent and does not happen every time although it seems to be more likely the longer the system has been running. I have occasionally had a similar problem under SuSE 11.1 and KED3 or KDE4 if I switched back and forth between the GUI and another terminal session using the ctrl-Alt-f# keys, although in those cases, the screen would go black. On this same hardware under SuSE 11.1 KDE3 or KDE4, or SuSE 11.0, I have never had this problem (where the system hangs while I am actively using it). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
