The main issue here is not the names themselves; it's that the two items appear at the same place.
I'm actually thinking that the "Update system" one could just be hidden, since people should start it from the notification icon when there are updates. Does that sound reasonable?
Yes, it does. And the same workaround could be used also for: 1) Add/remove software - gnome-packagekit-application, which is package manager for Gnome. This item could be hidden and Install/remove software - YaST software manager should stay visible. 2) Software Sources. Do we need this item in Control Center, forasmuch as we can manage repositories in YaST-Software repositories, or in YaST-Software manager? Software sources could be also hidden.
