https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=794674 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=794674#c0 Summary: UEFI DVD boot fails Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 12.3 Milestone 0 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader AssignedTo: jsrain@suse.com ReportedBy: s2@forceway.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 Firefox/17.0 I am unable to get the 12.3 M1 x86_64 DVD to boot on a very new Windows8 UEFI laptop. It is a 3rd gen Intel i7 w/ Intel HD 4000 graphics. Secure boot is disabled. openSUSE 12.2 does the same thing. SystemRescueCD 3.1.2 also has a similar problem on this computer. ELILO seems to load ok, then I get: "Loading kernel linux..." ..for about 15 seconds. Then it reboots. Sometimes I see an error message that flashes on screen for a fraction of a second.. looks like "bzImage error" or something to that effect. Sometimes a blue error message box comes up that says "OS failed to load" I think it is a BIOS error prompt. You press OK and it takes you back to the UEFI boot device menu. I believe this is the bug, slow optical drives causing a problem: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=851500 I have found that Fedora 17 live CD does NOT have this problem and boots UEFI mode ok. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. try to boot openSUSE DVD with computer in UEFI mode 2. 3. Actual Results: Boot fails. system reboots or goes back to UEFI boot device menu. Expected Results: System should boot. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
