https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=439984 Summary: Allow import of Apple VCFs into KAddressBook Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Factory Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: kamikazow@web.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Currently it's impossible to import VCFs that were created by Apple Address Book from Mac OS X. There are two major issues that prevent that. Each of that issues should be relatively easy to fix. 1.) All VCFs created by Apple Address Book are encoded into UTF-16, while KAddressBook only understands UTF-8. 2.) Both applications save Instant Messaging addresses in a proprietary format. KAddressBook uses this format: X-messaging/aim-All: X-messaging/icq-All: X-messaging/msn-All: X-messaging/xmpp-All: X-messaging/yahoo-All: Apple Address Book uses this format: X-AIM;type=HOME;type=pref: X-ICQ;type=HOME;type=pref: X-MSN;type=HOME;type=pref: X-JABBER;type=HOME;type=pref: X-YAHOO;type=HOME;type=pref: It would be great if KAddressBook could convert Apple VCFs into KAddressBook's native VCF format during import without the need to do those steps manually. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
