https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=366263 Summary: Thunderbird calls gpg-agent incorrectly Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: zuziak@math.ku.dk QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Thunderbird doesn't close its file descriptors before starting gpg-agent. This can lead to netstat showing that gpg-agent has a connection to an imap server (in close_wait state) which is confusing. To reproduce: * Make sure that gpg-agent isn't running. * Start thunderbird (with no existing profile). * Don't import or create an account in the wizard. * Click OpenPGP->Preferences. This will start gpg-agent. (If gpg-agent hasn't been run before then thunderbird might deadlock - bug 366262). * Click Cancel in the Preferences dialog. * Close thunderbird. Now /proc/<pid of gpg-agent>/fd will contain a lot of file descriptors inherited from thunderbird. If an imap connection exists when thunderbird starts gpg-agent netstat might output something like this: tcp 54 0 myip:28578 serverip:143 CLOSE_WAIT 1000 1225029 28479/gpg-agent And that could make people nervous as gpg-agent isn't supposed to create network connections. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
