https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=467192 Summary: An external firewire disk is not detected on startup Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: RC 3 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Hotplug AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mrcin.vuk@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008121300 SUSE/3.0.5-0.1 Firefox/3.0.5 An external firewire disk that is connected before booting, is not detected. No device node is made and no sign of ieee1394 in dmesg. If the disk is plugged in while the system is running, it is detected, the device nodes are created and it can be mounted. If the same disk is connected to USB, everything works as expected. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.plug in external firewire disk before booting 2.boot the system 3. Actual Results: No device node is present for external disk partitions and as a result, it can not be mounted. A workaround for this bug is to disconnect and connect the disk again after the system has booted. The disk is then detected and usable. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
