https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=751811 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=751811#c0 Summary: pm-suspend generates defective /var/log/pm-suspend.log file Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: cmcgrath5035@comcast.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=480963) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=480963) Good pm-suspend,log from SuSE 11.4 system User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.2 When running pm-suspend from console as root, the log file generated in /var/log/pm-suspend.log is defective - appears to be a binary dump (crash?) followed by some normal status lines. Log file is useless in debugging suspend-to-ram issues. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open console window, su to root 2. run pm-suspend, system suspends 3. wake system, open /var/log/pm-suspend.log Actual Results: opening file /var/log/pm-suspend.log in kwrite or Vim - observe what appears to be binary garbage at top of file. Expected Results: I expect a log file similar to the one generated by SuSE 11.4/KDE 4.8.1 (attached) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
