https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=288330 Summary: Install correctly sets up console and graphical modes, but after reboot they have to be set again Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 5 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: kkeil@novell.com ReportedBy: mgyhardsoft@freestart.hu QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer I install opnSUSE 10.3 Alpha 5 to an Asus M2A-VM motherboard (AMD 690G/ATI SB600 chipsets). The initial install is easily accepts 1280x1024 screen resolution and displays that big console during the boot process. Later the graphical install also uses 1280x1024 without any problem. The install process enters "vga = 0x869" into GRUB. At the first reboot the systems says that the graphical mode is invalid and I need to press Enter to choose a mode. If I choose anything than 0 (80x25 chars) the system exhibits random errors. If I choose 0 the system starts but X is not started. Then I configure graphics with YAST again as generic VESA to 1280x1024, and from the next reboot the system starts the graphical mode correctly. However, the wrong entry in GRUB and thus the invalid vga mode error message persists. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
