https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=238572#c16 --- Comment #16 from Arthur Edwards <jim@edwardsj7.com> 2007-06-29 14:00:12 MST --- OK, it's been over a week now and I have only suffered one lock-up, and that was immediately after the removal of the Acard+DVD from the system, so it may have been hardware disturbance related. As I wasn't watching at the time I don't know whether it had the usual symptoms of the SCSI activity LED staying on for a long time and then going off, leaving the system unusable, or not. It was certainly unusable with even the cursor locked ! My feeling is that this was a different lock-up, but I cannot guarantee my feeling is accurate, as it is a long time since I left a lock-up to go to its conclusion, usually I have been hitting the RESET button as soon as I see the SCSI LED on ! So looking good, but not yet guaranteed :-) I will keep watching ! If it is the Acard+DVD it is odd that it was perfectly stable under Suse 9.0, and it was. Not that I'm going back to 9.0 to get that working again ! If the Acard is the cause is it likely that there can be a fix worked out that will allow it to work ? The original patch goes a lot of the way towards making it stable :-) In the meantime I bought a couple of 4GB USB memory sticks as back-up media, although the data transfer is slower than to DVD-RAM.
