Inputting languages based on non-latin character is a very important issue for many users, and I would recommend that openSUSE follow the same direction of Ubuntu and Fedora. The reasons are detailed in a page describing why Ubuntu's recent Karmic release included IBUS (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/desktop-karmic-input-methods). I quote the relevant sections: "Because SCIM is unmaintained upstream and has too many bugs which we can not fix, Ubuntu has switched to IBus as preferred input method framework. IBus is actively developed by Redhat employees and has fixed a number of design issues SCIM has. Rationale: * SCIM upstream is pretty dead * SCIM has a lot of design issues which can only be fixed through a complete rewrite from scratch * iBus is used by Fedora since Fedora 10 as a replacement for SCIM and is actively developed" Reproducible: Always -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
