This is obviously due to an overriding guideline, policy or technical reasons. Functional change is never about making people happy - I see functional excellence and the functional abysmal application of it. nothing happy or sad about it. The reason code is wontfix. This reason code is perfectly acceptable in the development of software if it conflicts with overriding guidelines for future planed changes. Slab presentations now in KDE, are just that! I think history will judge this as a very very poor decision with respect to usability - I would rather see yast removed completely and interfaced with KDE's native control functions and the same for gnome.
