I don't know why it failed the other time: I suppose that the command "tee" crashed and impeded the correct saving of the file. I did notice "tee" crashing, but I did not notice that the /var/log/kernel file didn't had all the data. The restart you saw in the previous log is simply the next reboot of the computer: I edited the log to remove previous lines to this debug session, and maybe the next normal session, to save size. I'm attaching this time only the dmesg output, because I think it is complete. If you want kernel and messages log, just ask for it.
