One thing that is different in TW compared to Fedora, Ubuntu, etc. is btrfs as root filesystem.
It is known that gnome-shell likes to perform io operations in the rendering thread, so btrfs may be too slow for that? This is just speculation.
I wonder if anyone that is using ext4 as root fs can repro this behaviour.
