https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=458903 Summary: The Desktop Trash Function Has The Ability To Permanently Delete Real Files Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: alpha096@virginbroadband.com.au QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer The Desktop Trash can opens the Dolphin File Manager in the Trash Directory of the currently logged-in user. As long as the user does NOT move directory it is safe. The File Manager displays quick access to other NON-Trash Directory files and permits the user to permanently delete any File inside or out of the Trash Directory. The other issue with the Trash Directory is poor. Deletion of any other user files ownership outside the currently logged in user requires refinement as is it not possible to delete Root Trash or any other users Trash that is at odds with the currently logged in users group or file ownership. We need to find a more secure and safe way of managing file permissions that have essentially been moved to a trash directory, irrespective of origin file permission and ownership. We also need to develop 1 Single Trash can for ALL files that have been moved to the 'Wastebin', irrespective of original file permission and also provide reversal back to original file permission and location if an item is restored. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
