I took an ultra-conservative approach on my 32-bit openSUSE-11.4 LXDE desktop (which is on a rather old athon-1100 CPU with 1GB RAM) and deleted the old /var/log/boot.tgz file. Then I opened an xterm (running it from lxterm) and also opened an xterm from the LXDE menu. Then I restarted the PC and in the grub boot menu entered the " init=/sbin/bootchartd " . After the PC booted I again opened an xterm from lxterminal and also from the LXDE menu. And I waited. Eventually both the bootchart.tgz and bootchart.png did show up. But it took a LONG time no this old PC. specifically some times (HH:MM) 20:00 boot.msg time 20:02 bootchart.tgz time 20:03 bootchart.png time. I confess I had misjudged the relative slowness of this PC. So thankyou for the support. This DOES work in both KDE and Gnome, and I think this can be marked RESOLVED. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
