With regards 12.3, i am a bit reluctant to add the fixes. There is a possibility most users are accustomed to the current behavior, and maybe it would be strange for them to see this kind of change after ~nine months. I have to say I don't really agree with that. Why would it disturb users if the password dialog doesn't appear anymore when it is not necessary?
Anyway, I backported the commits that fix it to 4.10. Packages are available here if somebody wants to test: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/wolfi323:/branches:/KDE:/Rel... (you only need kdebase4-workspace) I only tried them briefly in a VM and they seem to work, both with automatic and manual lock. But I don't use KDE 4.10 anymore, so would like some comments first before I would even consider to submit them. Especially I haven't tested the case when the system is restored after a suspend/hibernate.
As for the cursor, i don't see that as an issue personally... Well, I fixed it anyway... ;-)
