https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=853082 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=853082#c0 Summary: Emacs slow when run as root Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: andrew@acooke.org QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/31.0.1650.11 Safari/537.36 SUSE/31.0.1650.11 When I run emacs as root (with nothing modified in the emacs config, in a KDE session as another user, so emacs runs as a console application) it is very slow. Holding down the down cursor key moves the cursor down one line per second, for example. Hitting Ctrl-G once the document to be edited has loaded fixes the problem. Htop doesn't show any unusual activity while emacs is slow. Emacs works normally in my own account. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Change to root 2. Start emacs 3. See how slow it is 4. Hit Ctrl-G 5. See how it becomes reponsive. Actual Results: Initially it is slow; after Ctrl-G it is responsive. Expected Results: It should be responsive from the start. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
