When I select German at gfxboot, YaST starts in German. But the keyboard selection at boot is only valid for the boot menu; when I select the German keyboard layout, but I leave English (US) as the language, I can enter characters at the boot prompt just fine with the German keyboard layout (QWERTZ keyboard, i.e. "Z" and "Y" exchanged vs. the US layout). But when YaST starts, it resets to the default keyboard for that language, i.e. I get the US keyboard again because I (deliberately) left the language as English (US). But it's clearly shown in the keyboard combo box, and my preferred keyboard layout is just one more click away. I think we can live with that.
