https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1215374 Bug ID: 1215374 Summary: Improve the error message in Dolphin's Share page Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE Tumbleweed Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE Applications Assignee: opensuse-kde-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: unblended_icing552@simplelogin.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Target Milestone: --- Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 869528 --> https://bugzilla.suse.com/attachment.cgi?id=869528&action=edit Dolphin usershares broken out of the box Dolphin's samba usershares integration does not work out of the box: ``` This folder can't be shared because '/var/lib/samba/usershares' does not exist. This error is caused by your distribution not setting up Samba sharing properly. You can fix it yourself by creating that folder manually. Then close and re-open this window. ``` This is misleading and users would probably look up the internet for workarounds or hacks (that are likely not even written for openSUSE), when in fact it can be enabled graphically in YaST2 -> Samba Server -> Allow Users to Share their Directories. The error message should be changed to reflect the existence of YaST2 and better yet, add a button to directly open YaST2 Samba Server. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
