https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=220354 Summary: zmd refreshes its sources way too often Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: PC OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Zenworks AssignedTo: zlm-code10-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: admin@eregion.de QAContact: jtariq@novell.com zmd does a full source refresh every time its being started, AND every time it wakes up from sleep mode, AND at least once a day from being scheduled to do so. On a machine that gets switched off several times a day (think: home user laptop, dual boot with windows for gaming), this eats up a HUGE amout of uptime during which the machine isn't really usable because zmd doing its refresh cranks up the load average to values way above what keeps a machine healthy. Especially when you're logged into KDE and beagle does its refresh while updatedb is being run by cron in the background, you can't even use your mouse anymore. and it takes several hours that way. and the obvious "solution" 'dont use beagle, dont use updatedb' is no solution when the beagle desktop search is one of the strong points that are being used to market suse 10.1. and locate is one of the strong points in unix. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
