https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=744702 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=744702#c0 Summary: No acceleration for GeForce4 MX 4000. Xorg reports missing nouveau_vieux_dri.so Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: avalosdanielr@gmx.net QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=473939) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=473939) In the log file written by the xorg subsystem of opensuse 12.1 User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:9.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/9.0.1 Gnome 3.2 starts in fallback mode. Xorg.0.log states: (EE) AIGLX error: dlopen of /usr/lib/dri/nouveau_vieux_dri.so failed (/usr/lib/dri/nouveau_vieux_dri.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory). (EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering In /usr/lib/dri/ there exists en nouveau_dri.so but the nouveau_vieux_dri.so IS MISSING. Apparently nouveau_vieux_dri.so is needed to make my nvidia GeForce4 MX 4000 to use hardware acceleration. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot opensuse in a machine with a GeForce 4 MX 4000 installed as video card 2. 3. Actual Results: Gnome 3.2 starts in fallback mode. Expected Results: Start Gnome 3.2 in the ordinary (accelerated) experience. While I was googling I happened to find this page: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/20980 At the end appears this cryptic (to me!) comment: Comment by György Balló (City-busz) - Thursday, 30 September 2010, 23:14 GMT-5 nouveau_vieux_dri.so is the classic Mesa driver for NV04, NV10 and NV20 cards. In can be enabled by add 'nouveau' to '--with-dri-drivers=...' array in Mesa PKGBUILD. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
