When Firefox was hanging long enough to allow to investigate, I found firefox hanging in the futex_wait system call. Other applications usually hang only for a couple of seconds every few minutes. Sometimes the not reacting window is turned grey during the hang. Usually one application hangs at a time. Other applications are still usable. Adobe Reader is an exception. It hangs for a couple of seconds and even freezes the mouse cursor. Adobe Reader does not seem to hang when in Fullscreen Mode. I am not able to identify the component causing the issue.
