Well, if he can get this code to be in the kernel directly, it could be a nice project too ;)
Don't the kernel devs have an unofficial "thou shalt pay no mind to the BIOS NUM setting" policy? Why else hasn't the the kernel been handling this since the beginning of time? What are Mandriva & Mageia doing differently from openSUSE WRT NUM state on ttys? On those, NUM seems handled automatically, with no string "NUM" anywhere in their /etc/sysconfig/keyboards, and nothing that comes to my attention in their kernel configs.
