https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=267222 ------- Comment #1 from tgagne@wideopenwest.com 2007-04-23 13:37 MST ------- Some more information: I discovered with a packet trace my system eventually does do a DNS lookup--but not for the first domain listed in /etc/resolv.conf. /etc/resolv.conf listed two domains to search, instream.local and home.lan. It's queries progressed as: MDNS roqa01.instream.local (failed) MDNS roqa01.home.lan (failed) DNS roqa01.home.lan (failed) When I saw it finally did try a DNS lookup, but on the 2nd domain, I removed the 2nd domain and tried again. This time it worked: MDNS roqa01.instream.local (failed) DNS roqa01.instream.local (success) Apparently, there's a bug in the resolver that doesn't try DNS for all the SEARCH records. It skips the first domain. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
