http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=574749 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=574749#c0 Summary: kernel mode setting is not useful with radeon Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Milestone 1 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: seife@novell.slipkontur.de QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: Community User Blocker: --- Even though I load the kernel module with modprobe radeon modeset=1 (and I have booted with vga=0), obviously the KMS is not really used, since the screen still flickers when I switch VTs. I found this in Xorg.0.log, which might shed some light on the problem: (EE) RADEON(0): [dri] RADEONDRIGetVersion failed because of a version mismatch. [dri] radeon kernel module version is 2.0.0 but version 1.17.0 or newer is needed. [dri] Disabling DRI. I'm not sure if this only affects 3D or KMS in general? Is the radeon driver on 11.3MS1 simply too old? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
