I also had a problem with 10.3 beta 3 update.
I had windows XP preload and 10.2 on 3 extended partitions (swap,/, and /home).
Booted fine to either. 10.3 beta1 installed OK on top. Beta2 installed OK on
top. Beta 3 installed OK on top, but windows boot was then broken. I went to
boot disk and selected Repair Installed System. Boot loader would not reload.
Kept saying Partitioning prevents bootloader install (using Grub). The only
way I could fix this was to delete Linux partitions and do fresh install and
then restore my existing.
The Yast Logs did not show anything about why the partitioning was wrong, which
I suspect it is not.
This is the fdisk of the drive.
Disk /dev/sda: 160.0 GB, 160041885696 bytes

Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x12611260
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System

/dev/sda6 7708 14500 54564741 83 Linux
/dev/sda7 14501 19457 39817071 83 Linux
Boots OK right now, but a repair-install will bork it.
Also could not then do repair with 10.2 or 10.3 beta1 or 2 same message with
them even though the clean install works. Something in beta 3 (and possibly
beta 1&2) prevents fixing boot loading.
