I have a Brother MFC 7820N, and was using it just fine from OpenSuse10.2 via
TCP/IP. If your printer is network-ready, try that.

Not sure what the basis is for that comment. My friends and I have all had
great luck with their laser-multifunction printers in our business' and
home-offices. The company has had a good rep in printers for a LONG time.
