The only way to get at them is to rebuild the binaries from sources, unfortunatly. (with xpm files one could think about patching the binary, as the images are uncompressed and always same size, but with jpg or png, a replacement of exact same size is difficult to create) Removal of the binary may work for simple things like /usr/bin/BackGround but will not work for e.g. yast components.
