Hi Joey,
I'm currently not at home and, therefore, asked my wife to start the rescue system with the kernel options
hwprobe=-modules.pata BrokenModules=pata_pdc2027x linuxrc.debug=-udev.mods
unfortunately, with these options, it seems to be impossible to start the rescue system any longer. usually, I start the rescue system from the fourth partition of /dev/sda4 using the following entry of /boot/grub/menu.lst:
title update to opensuse 12.2 root (hd0,3) kernel /os122/boot/i386/loader/linux vga=0x31a splash=0 showopts hwprobe=-mo dules.pata BrokenModules=pata_pdc2027x linuxrc.debug=-udev.mods initrd /os122/boot/i386/loader/initrd

Thanks for your testing, it's possible some side effect when we use '-udev.mods' . Actually, we don't need really go to RUN the installation process, just need boot to rescue system or installation system with DVD, and press Ctrl+Alt+F1 switch to tty console, then dump dmesg or check system status. Sorry for use '-udev.mods' maybe is not good idea, we already have a linuxrc patch to fix brokenmodules problem on openSUSE 12.2 (bnc#775800) We have 2 things need try: + The next version openSUSE 12.2 DVD, as I know it's GM image. We need try BrokenModules parameter on new DVD and look at the IDE pdc202xx_new driver should loaded and what's happen. + Debug pata_pdc2027x with ata_bmdma_interrupt, I need find a way to you for load debug driver for installation process. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
