I don't know why this code lives out of tree still but I figured it is worth relooking at as 10GigE links and infiniband/fiber is more common than ever and ssh is the defacto way to copy from one boxen to another (including rsync). There are many benefits but what disadvantages to this ancient but maintained patch?
