http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=522352 Summary: postgresql update and backup of shared objects Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Update Problems AssignedTo: max@novell.com ReportedBy: poeml@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Hi, not strictly a Factory bug, because PostgreSQL 84 isn't in Factory yet (but in the buildservice, and on its way there). The postgresql package saves binaries on update, which is great. I just noticed that this feature might be needed for shared objects as well: I have /usr/$libdir/pgsql/ip4r.so, and it fails to load with the backed up binaries because it's already updated, and PostgreSQL sees a version mismatch: postgres@mirrobrain:~> pg_dumpall > SAVE pg_dump: SQL command failed pg_dump: Error message from server: ERROR: incompatible library "/usr/lib/pgsql/ip4r.so": version mismatch DETAIL: Server is version 8.3, library is version 8.4. pg_dump: The command was: COPY public.pfx2asn (pfx, asn) TO stdout; pg_dumpall: pg_dump failed on database "mb", exiting I was thinking about adding a mechanism to the postgresql-ip4r package, but it might be easier to have the postgresql's %pre do it in one step, just copying away /usr/$libdir/pgsql/*. However, that might fail when postgresql-ip4r is updated before postgresql ;) Any clever idea on this?
