The renaming function first translates the id to the kernel device name and then applies the device name translation as provided by hwinfo. This is of course wrong since the id already points to the new kernel device name. So the solution is to make the device translation only for kernel device names, but not for id, path, UUID and LABEL. Testing this is of course difficult since it requires special hardware (many disk that rename during update). The fix might also break something.
